When you want to learn a new skill you must seek out someone with the skill that you wish to learn (usually an NPC or another player). That person then makes an Instruction (INT) Average (8+) skill check and adds in your INT DM and the points in the skill being taught as a +DM. For example, someone with Pilot-2 and Instruction-1 with and INT DM of +1 can make a roll with +4 total DM. If they did not have any Instruction skill then it would have been +0 (+2 for Pilot, +1 for INT, and -3 for unskilled in Instruction). The Time Frame is 1D Months (but can be rushed to 1D Weeks for DM-2). Training may be made even if the teacher is untrained in Instruction but the usual DM-3 applies. Also, a computer running Expert-Instruction AND Expert-(applicable skill) may be used instead of a real teacher. Regardless of the outcome or time available, only one attempt at learning a new skill may be made per game session. A successful Instruction check by the teacher gives the student the new skill at Level 0.

  • Teaching a skill to someone: Average (8+) Instruction check (1D x 1 Months, INT). DM+1 per point in skill being taught.
